How can social work recover it's fast disappearing skills?
There is a danger that if we don't act now all the important core social work values will fade from the collective memory and be lost forever as those that understand them retire and are replaced by new social workers who have had little or no exposure to these values during their training and early career experience.
So what can be done? There are some signs that some of us are beginning to speak up about this before it's too late, but there will have to be a pendulum swing away from all the performance drivers that dominate case management today.
